Well today I was playing an online Video Game Music quiz and I happened upon the opening theme of Cannon Fodder. I’ll just say that I had no idea what was coming there, it starts out with ska chords and goes into “♫ War, never been so much fun…♫” So for the focus of this article I will talk about some attention grabbing intros. Not all of them need take the Cannon Fodder approach but all of them have some quality that makes them unforgettable.

Well I have been lagging on coming up with a new soundtrack to do, so I decided to go with my idea of making a top list of epic tracks. One of my favorite things about making this list was seeing how varied each track was from system to system and game to series.

With one article left and a many possible video games left to go, which could it be? There have been many possible considerations for this soundtrack, but there’s one that has stood the test of time. If you were thinking it was Final Fantasy… then you’re completely right. Mitsuda, Kondo, Shimomura, and Wise have all had their place and Uematsu has been absent other than through an assisting role. Now of course, which game is it?

Number seven on our list of the top ten game soundtracks is none other than Donkey Kong Country 2. The work of David Wise and the Rare sound team is groundbreaking on this one. Though the first game set a precedent for how the games should sound, Rare went ahead and created four times as many songs for the second and they created many amazing tracks in the process.
