Getting your Money’s Worth: Rock Band

Ever tried to play drums on rock band? If you liked it and thought easy wasn’t too bad… well neither was medium – but, when hard and expert came along you really needed to start practicing. The practice feature option of slowing the song down made that really easy too. Did you ever think that the difficulty and configuration of the drums in rock band was actually the same as real drums? I know every guitarist hates guitar hero because people think they have talent for the real guitar when they can five-star expert, but it would seem that rock band proves the (freaking sweet!) exception.

Top 12 Sad Songs

Well Andy was surfing YouTube one day and happened upon a bunch of top 10 sad song videos – and, to be quite honest – they were all pretty bad. Yes, Final Fantasy has some fantastic sad music, but an entire list of them doesn’t do Video Game Music justice. It merely gratifies the fan boys that justify the FF series as the IT of gaming. Not that Nobuo Uematsu is not deserving of as much recognition, but there are other composers. As for the rest of the lists, I did see some notable choices, such as Sadness from Terranigma, but there were a few suspect songs missing.

Featured Composers: Tim Follin

When talking about Western Composers, which is a tough thing to do these days when Nobuo Uematsu and Hitoshi Sakimoto are so well known in the East, one man remains a constant standard: Tim Follin. Being cited as an major influence by David Wise (Donkey Kong Country, Wizards & Warriors) , Richard Jacques (Jet Set Radio, Mass Effect), and Jesper Kyd (Unreal Tournament 3, Assassin’s Creed), Follin has extended his influence in the Video Game industry for almost 30 years since he started writing in the mid 80’s.
