COW-A-BUNGA DUDE! Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2: The Arcade Game!

May 16, 2010

“Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles! Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles! Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles! Heroes in a half shell. TURTLE POWER!” – excerpt  from the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Cartoon

It’s that time again; my slow but steadily developing “COW-A-BUNGA DUDE!” series is back! Throughout the “COW-ABUNGA DUDE!” series, we will be examining the different Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle games that have been developed throughout the years. Today, we are taking a look at Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2: The Arcade Game.

Back in the 80’s and 90’s, the Ninja Turtles where the hottest thing since sliced bread. Kids couldn’t help but devour, with great tenacity, the seemingly limitless merchandise available. Cloths, toys, bed sheets, bubble bath (my personal favorite), are just a few examples of the items children, like me, demanded from their parents. This merchandise included video games!

The Angry Video Game Nerd’s Shitlist is Made of Gold

May 12, 2010

Well I’ve had this article idea floating around in my head ever since James the Nintendo nerd made an appearance at Magfest this year. If you’re not familiar with him (otherwise known as the Angry Video Game Nerd) then I recommend checking him out on Youtube or Gameshock Trailers. In an interview at Magfest, someone asked the AVGN what game out of all the ones that he reviewed had his favorite music. He responded that it was probably Fester’s Quest. This, of course, piqued my interest and I listened to the soundtrack to come to the same conclusion that it actually wasn’t half bad.

We’re Not Dead Yet! But You Could Be…..

November 3, 2009

Well it’s been quite a hiatus, and I think it’s been hard on both of us… But fear not! We’ll call you back the next Month.
Anyway, in honor of being overly late I’ll be doing a Halloween inspired game that has deserved a throne in the horror
game shrines for decades: Clock Tower. This game has scared the bejesus out of daring gamers for over a decade,
and don’t let its successors lull you into a semblance of confidence, this game will knock you dead, or you’ll die trying.

Stand Out Game Introductions

June 18, 2009

Well today I was playing an online Video Game Music quiz and I happened upon the opening theme of Cannon Fodder. I’ll just say that I had no idea what was coming there, it starts out with ska chords and goes into “♫ War, never been so much fun…♫” So for the focus of this article I will talk about some attention grabbing intros.  Not all of them need take the Cannon Fodder approach but all of them have some quality that makes them unforgettable.

Collection of Epic Tracks

June 3, 2009

Well I have been lagging on coming up with a new soundtrack to do, so I decided to go with my idea of making a top list of epic tracks. One of my favorite things about making this list was seeing how varied each track was from system to system and game to series.

Awesome Video of the Week: Mega Man 2.5D

May 29, 2009

Angry at Andrew for not continuing this potentially fun series, I decided to post a video in his absence… and I’m sure it will please everyone.

So… How many people, by a show of hands, liked Mega Man 2. Yeah? So did I. Sure, it was a tough game at parts, but it was FUN – something lacking in many of today’s games. Now, who here by a show of hands would play Mega Man 2 again if it was slightly modded to incorporate some of the finer points of 3D while still keeping the feel of the 2D game.

I’m sure the answer to that is a resounding yes, with the exception of the few of you who are too conservitive to change anything about the past. Read the rest of this entry »

Digging deeper into the Super Mario Bros. 3 Hidden Levels, and other Super Mario Bros. series glitches

May 23, 2009

The story on Infendo that is currently at the top of Reddit’s “Gaming Subreddit” pointed out that there were in fact hidden levels deep within the Super Mario Bros. 3 cartridge that never saw the light of day. Interested in these levels, I decided to do a little searching to find out what these levels were really about. Read the rest of this entry »
